Dr. Giudice received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry
from the University
of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana in 1977. He then entered the
graduate program in the Department
of Biology at Princeton University, where he
obtained an M.S. degree in 1979 and a Ph.D. in 1983.
His dissertation research
dealt with the biochemical characterization of components of the
desmosome, a
cell-cell adhesion junction found in epithelial cells. As a postdoctoral fellow
with Dr. Elaine Fuchs at the University of Chicago, Dr. Giudice's research was
directed to the
study of keratin filaments, a cytoskeletal element that is associated
with the desmosome.
He joined the faculty of the Departments of Dermatology and
Biochemistry at the
Medical College of Wisconsin in 1989.
